Allium tuberosum plant details

Garlic chives have edible leaves and flowers, making them pretty in the garden and on the plate in late summer. The flavor is less onion-y, more garlicky, but milder than the bub garlic typically used in cooking. Flowers are taller than the leaves, giving way to toasty-looking seedheads holding black seeds. It can self-sow, if it's happy, but it's not obnoxiously prolific.

Allium tuberosum is a broadleaf semi-evergreen perennial bulb / corm / tuber or herb with green foliage. In fall and summer white flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Attracts bees, beneficial insects and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant, humidity tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

Garlic chives are a small-growing member of the allium family. They have a mild garlic flavour that is useful in many dishes. They grow in perennial tufts of narrow, dark green, flat leaves and produce open clusters of white flowers. The leaves and flowers are edible.
Upright perennial herb with white flowers in mid summer. mild garlic flavor, excellent vinegar additive.
An unusual vegetable with a distinctive growth habit of strap-shaped leaves & thin, white flower stalks that are much taller than the leaves. It grows to 12-19" in slowly expanding perennial clumps. Besides its use as a vegetable, it also has attractive flowers, which are sometimes used as a spice. Clip the plant down regularly to keep it producing. A relatively new vegetable in the English-speaking world but well-known in Asian cuisine, the flavor of garlic chives is more like garlic than chives, though much milder. Both leaves & the stalks of the flowers are used as a flavoring as well as a stir fry ingredient. In China, they are often used to make dumplings with a combination of egg, shrimp & pork.
