Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This grand specimen puts on a show in spring when the huge (10-16") heart-shaped leaves open deep-dark purple on this lovely spreading 40-50' tree. Early summer finds this beauty adorned with splendid panicles of white foxglove-like flowers, which contrast perfectly with the greenish-purple summer leaves, this is a real beauty. Catalpa are commonly called 'Indian Bean' trees due to the long, showy bean-shaped fruits that hang in fall. S/M
Can be treated the same way as C. bignonioides ‘Aurea’, but we have left our plant alone and it is 30’ X 15’ and offers deep purple new growth with white flowers in July. Only a few plants available.
