Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Little tufted paintbrush blossoms dance on the tops of curvy stems, weaving in and about summer staples like zinnias. The vivid scarlet color contrasts agreeably with its blue green leaves. A rare old-fashioned favorite, it was also called Flora's Paintbrush and Scarlet Cacalia and was listed in an 1827 catalog. Self sows.
More than a few gardeners have asked me to grow this showy annual from the tropics. It grows in any climate and makes a 2' tall, upright branching plant bearing sprays of dazzling red or orange tassel flowers. Makes a great cut flower, fresh or dried.
