Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This truly spectacular shrub/tree from Australia is still quite unknown here in California. “Golden Penda” tolerates very dry soil & light frosts & so is growable in California’s Sunset zone 16 & higher. The conspicuous, dense flower heads are well displayed at branches ends & are a glorious, bright yellow with stunningly extended stamens reminiscent of a bottlebrush. Bloom time lasts from late Summer thru Fall, which makes it especially valuable. New leaves start out red, contrasting beautifully with older, lance shaped glossy green foliage. Responds well to pruning & can be easily shaped into a shrub, hedge or screen with annual pruning. A favorite of birds & makes a good cut flower. To 15’ tall.
