Zn 6. Deep green course-textured foliage
This low growing evergreen ground cover is a great plant for sun or shade. The netted foliage is deep green year round. The yellow blackberries are sweet in summer. Doesn't seed or run but slowly spreads.
What a great, impenetrable to weeds, ground cover this Himalayan species makes. With its stippled, textured, ivy shaped foliage and very vigorous growth, you'd be hard pressed to find a better plant to cover a large area quickly.
A spreading ground cover with crinkled, dark green leaves. The older branches are gold, young stems are scarlet.
It's not glamourous but it sure is useful. Handsome deep green, quilted leaves with a sand-papery texture are held along reaching, groundcovering stems that will root into the ground as they travel. Forms a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover from sun to shade. Foliage can turn russet red in fall. Occasional white flowers and amber berries resembling a yellow raspberry.
Prostrate, evergreen shrub, forming a dense carpet of hairy, rooting stems. Stems of lobed, mallow-like leaves are glossy green, crinkled above, felt-covered below. Small white flowers appear in summer, resembling those of strawberries, but often concealed by the dense foliage. Red, edible berries appear in fall. Durable, it is suitable for the rock garden or as a groundcover. Requires good drainage and average soil, moderate water with full sun or light shade. Hardy to 10F. Himalayan.
A killclass act in the land of groundcovers! “Creeping Bramble” makes an evergreen, dense mat of deep green leathery leaves to 4” tall, & up to 4' wide (with time.) It's tough & dependable, weed suppressing, but not invasive. The leathery leaves take on a pleasing red hue when cold weather arrives. Bloom is in Summer, & quite inconspicuous. It roots along the stem as it grows, & though it is often sold as a groundcover for full to part shade, it can also tolerate hot, sunny sites, & slopes. It looks particularly nice cascading over walls. Avoid overhead watering, or too much watering in general, for best appearance.
Good ground cover in any soil. Roots along stems. Small berry in summer.
