Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Quick to grow and flower Salpiglossis, or “Painted Tongue”, is one of the old-time, favorite, showy annuals for the garden. Luckily for us, someone, somewhere has separated out the rich, maroony-chocolate color. Gorgeous, velvety chocolate blooms have darker veins that look like they were painted by an artist’s hand. These plants are not sprayed with growth regulators, so they will reach their natural height of 2’-3’ with lots of branching, and produce a great profusion of flowers. Excellent cut flower! Rich soil is best. Nice in pots too!
