Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Green fuzzy leaves; dark blue showy flowers
SO completely true deep gentian blue with NO SHADES OF PURPLE! We love this hard to find large spiked “Blue Bugle” - it’s just so much more showy in the garden than any other Ajuga we’ve ever seen! With larger than average flowers closely held in whorls on spikes to 16” tall & 2” across. It bloomed for us here at the nursery for most of the summer! Spreads by rhizomes to 20” across, forming a dense groundcover of glossy, deep green foliage. A nice front of bed subject, especially next to a rock wall or in a rock garden, as it does tend to appreciate good drainage, as well as a bit of compost added each year. VERY COLD HARDY! Deer often nibble this plant but don’t generally wipe it out.
