The black, really black, smooth round leaves of this 12" mounder set off perfectly any bright flower in garden or container. PSh-Sh/M PP14836
Heuchera x ‘Obsidian’ displays intense, dark purple-black foliage year round. An award winner grown for its saturated color to accent the garden. A hardy evergreen perennial with a compact, mound habit. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. An excellent groundcover for dry shade. Heuchera will tolerate full sun in more Northern areas if adequate moisture is provided.
Almost black shiny leaves really become dramatic when placed near light colored foliage, so consider companion planting with low spreading Sedum 'Angelina'. 'Obsidian' forms 12" high clumps of dark wine foliage, 2' stems carry small white flowers in summer. Great as an accent in containers!
A truly stunning Heuchera, Obsidian has satiny deep maroon, almost black scalloped foliage that holds its color all season and contrasts nicely with its creamy white flowers.
Can you have too many black plants? No. Stunning black leaves and a compact mounding growth habit make this an awesome plant for large drifts or a mixed container. Plant in sun or part shade for deepest color. 10" tall and 16" wide. You know you gotta have it. USDA Zone 6 Saxifragaceae
This superlative cultivar has the deepest black foliage of any coral bell. It is a dream for building bold plant combinations since deep burgundy looks good with practically everything. 'Obsidian' is also strong and vigorous and a good performer.
Very dark rounded shiny leaves that are sun tolerant.
The "Black Standard" which does NOT fade, even in full sun. Shiny, broad, rounded leaves like black satin! Its richly colored foliage showcases all other colors in the garden. Vigor and consistent performance under a variety of garden conditions make this a fool-proof choice. Customers have continued to rank 'Obsidian' as one of their TOP 5 selling Heuchera nationwide. Dan saw 'Obsidian' doing well in Birmingham Botanic Gardens in Alabama.
