Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This fabulous viburnum is perfect for the fragrant garden with its large, white, snowball-like flower heads of deliciously fragrant, carnation-clove-scented flowers. The blossoms become red and black berries in the fall. This slow-growing shrub eventually becomes a multi-stemmed bush 6-10' tall with large, grey-green foliage which turns wine-to-maroon in fall. S/M
When this shrub is blooming, it perfumes our entire garden. Now that's my idea of fragrant -- not where you have to go over and stick your nose on the bloom to get a little whiff! And the smell is utterly delicious! It was the first shrub I purchased and planted after marrying my husband (and the nursery!) 15 years ago and I still have a secret fondness for it above all other shrubs here! 3-5" wide snowball-like clusters of substance bloom after most Viburnums. Followed by berries that ripen from red to black. A hybrid of V. carlesii and V. macrocephalum var. keteleeri. Often hard to find in the trade. Pest and disease free. Zone 5 in a protected spot. If you're in it's growing area, you truly must have this. It's that simple...
