Verbena hastata 'Rosea' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial with green foliage. In summer pink flowers emerge. Grows well with sun and regular - occasional water. Does well in average and well-drained soil.
Verbena hastata f. rosea - A fine pink form of this winter dormant, Eastern North American perennial. Erect mounds of serrated, softly hairy, lance shaped leaves are topped all summer long with masses of finger-like spikes, each wearing a ring of small, soft pink flowers. Cut down in autumn or leave the spent stems for winter interest. Self seeds nicely if given suitably moist soil, which is handy as drifts of Verbena hastata with their frothy texture are the perfect companion/foil for Kniphofia, Daylilies, Rudbeckia and other bold perennials and taller grasses. Height will vary greatly depending on available moisture, anywhere from 40cm to over a metre. I find it more useful at the lower end of the spectrum though with more water the taller stems sway evocatively in the slightest breeze.
