Bright green strappy leaves emerge in late winter and fade just before the lavender blue, star shaped clusters of flowers bloom in late spring on 12” stems. Good pollinator/butterfly and hummer plant. Will expand into a nice where happy… goes dormant after flowering. Drought tolerant. Best in full sun and well-drained soil; plays well with others.

THRIVING IN HEAVY SOIL, sun or shade, needing no Summer water & happy as a clam under oaks, this California native also naturalizes by corms. A good “plant & forget” no care lovely for just about any location, it’s especially nice in rock gardens & wild gardens. To 12” tall & Spring blooming. The large 2” beautiful, sky-facing, purple-blue trumpets are held in loose clusters above stiff leafless stems (after grassy leaves die back). Lasting up to two weeks in a vase, it’s a wonderful cut flower you certainly won’t find at the florist. Tip: you might want to pair with Heuchera, Tellima grandiflora, or something lower growing to disguise the naked stems. Native Americans would roast the corms like potatoes.
