With wonderful parents like R. odoratum and R. sanguineum, how could this hybrid miss?.. and it doesn?t!: 5' of very tough and very pretty shrub with racemes of flowers raspberry outside, clear yellow inside. S/M
Interesting Currant cross between Ribes odoratumand R. sanguineum, this deciduous shrub has more horizontal branching than mostRibes forming a rounded shrub 4-5. Springflowers are softly fragrant and striking coppery rose with yellow interiors poppingfrom berry color buds hanging in graceful pendant racemes. Average garden conditions, moderate water, not fussy. Sun to part shade (flowersbest in sun). Exceptional at thewoodland edge.
This hybrid of R. sanguineum x R ordoratum was done in 1837. (Learn something new, didn’t know it was named that long ago). The plant will get 6’-8’ and have reddish peachy flowers in March. Not available too often, but nice.
March brings irresistible peach, salmon, light pink, and soft yellow pendent flowers that open from raspberry-colored buds on this hybrid of Ribes odoratum and Ribes sanguinium. 5' x 5' and much more horizontal and graceful than the other Ribes, it is an absolute delicate delight that doesn't clobber you with color yet still gives you plenty of it, as hummingbirds will attest. Deciduous.Minimum temperature: -20°F
In Tudor times, to dream of the ripe fruit of a flowering currant was said to herald great fortune, many children and the accomplishment of your dreams. This choice woodland shrub is a vigorous and hardy cross between Ribes odoratum and Ribes sanguineum. Its clusters of raspberry-red flowers, highlighted with creamy yellow throats, appear a salmon color at first glance and cascade gracefully amidst the lobed, toothed foliage. Plant atop a stone wall with an understory of Brunnera 'Langtrees', and watch the birds enjoy its black berries.
Discovered in Ipswich England in 1837 it is apparently a chance hybrid between Ribes odoratum and Ribes sanguineum flowers reddish yellow in racemes followed by edible black fruit.
Deciduous shrub, hybrid, R. odoratum and R. sanguineum. Flowers are magenta on the outside and yellowish on the inside. Gives a peachy-orange look
This astounding hybrid between R. sanguineum and R. odoratum came to us from Hillier's Arboretum. Deciduous shrub to 6' with late winter and spring flowers emerging red and opening to reveal yellow on the inside -- a wonderful color contrast appearing orange from a distance. Sun to part shade and occasional summer water. Frost hardy to -20 °F, USDA zone 5, or less.
