The chocolate-brown center of these broad 4-8" leaves are beautifully splashed with cream and yellow and even a of touch of pink(!) in the spring. S-PSh/M
Shocking foliage color on this relative newcomer makes this a popular perennial! Large, oval leaves, 4-6" long are a beautiful composition of rich green, maroon chevrons in the shape of lightening bolts and butter cream colored irregular patches – each leaf is different! Bold display for part sun to medium shade…18" tall stems spreading to 2'…will grow where other plants won't, dry shade, with tree roots; not fussy about soil. Terminal flower spikes in fall with teeny red flowers – plants seed politely (this is a well mannered plant in our gardens!). Happiest in with ample water during dry spells.
This unusual, but stunningly beautiful, perennial is adorned with wonderfully patterned 3" oval leaves that are green with a black chevron mark extending from side to side and overlain with a white-and-pink sector toward the tip. In late summer, plants are topped with airy stalks of tiny red beads. May self sow but not invasive. Moist soils are best though this plant is drought tolerant.
Strongly splashed tricolor variegation these are our selections for the most strongly marked seedlings, it forms impressive patches in our shade garden and the deer and rabbits seem to leave it alone. ZONE 4
24" Green with ivory yellow splashed and stripes. Reddish brown chevron marking on each leaf.
