Reddish stems and long dark shiny leaves make a fine backdrop for vivid purple-red flowers all season on this 3' x 3' perennial; like all Penstemons it needs good drainage, top dress with gravel and don?t over-fertilize. S/M-D/GDr
Upright robust cultivar with medium sized purple tubular flowers all summer and fall, right up to the first hard freeze. 3’ tall and 2 ½’ wide, dark green dense foliage…full sun…decent soil drainage and some summer water. Easy, floriferous, hummer candy. A border staple we would not be without! USDA 8
A striking penstemon with deep reddish-purple flowers throughout the growing season and unusually dark, shiny green foliage -- a standout amongst other garden forms. Stems to 2' tall, eventually forming clumps 2' wide. Sun, good drainage, and gravel mulch (if any) to protect against root rot. Otherwise, easy and lovely. Frost hardy to 0 °F, USDA zone 7.
One of the darkest foliaged Penstemons and with a generous and long lasting helping of rich purplish red flowers on reddish stems. These are good growers liking good drainage and a loose muclh - even gravel - around the crown. Long bloom period and Hummingbirds of course.
Abundant spikes of dark purple-red flowers continue from summer into fall. Robust plants 3 x 3 feet.
