Leucojum aestivum or summer snowflake is a spring-blooming bulb with arching stems to a foot or more with pendulous pure white flowers with green markings. It has long, grass-like foliage. 'Gravetye Giant' is a vigorous cultivar with larger flowers than the species introduced by horticulturalist and garden writer William Robinson who named it in honour of his home, Gravetye Manor.

If you're not familiar with these spring flowers, try a few. They'll win you over. Easy, showy, happy to naturalize and even able to thrive in clay or moist soils near ponds or streams. Excellent for planting under deciduous trees and shrubs.

An easy bulb that naturalizes well and tolerates many conditions, it blooms in April and March with several snow-white nodding bell flowers on glossy dark green 16" stems. Larger than some, the petals on these delicate nodding flowers are each charmingly tipped with a green dot. A chocolate lover might even notice a faint chocolaty scent. Clump-forming, elegant, a spring delight!Minimum temperature: -30 °F
