Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Also new, these have not flowered nor are they listed in any of my references although Kniphofia linearifolia is mentioned.
This is from wild-collected seed from South Africa where it grows in marshy places and stream edges. Here, it will thrive in a rich moist soil or perform quite adequately on much less care and attention. Long strappy leaves and tall imperious flowers with reddish orange buds opening to yellowish flowers.
A nice addition to the palette of pokers, forming a clump with mid-green leaves about 1” wide. Showy orange flowers in round heads come up to about 3'. In my garden it flowers in late July or August. This species is moderately drought tolerant. You might lose the foliage below 20 °F but it's root hardy to at least 0 °F.
Super showy, this Kniphofia is an eye catcher, with flower heads on 7’ tall spikes. The flowers begin orange, fade to tangerine & then to yellow. Forms a substantial clump about 5’ wide & 6’ tall of bright green strap-like foliage. Tidy up spent bloom spikes for best appearance. Hummingbirds will fight over this one. The flowers are also good cut for use in a vase. From South Africa.
