Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Midnight purple, almost black flowers have a fine gold saber in each petal. Be sure to give it a very light visual foil for adequate contrast; mix with whites, light blues, lavenders, golds. Mysterious, intriguing, and very elegant. Clumping rhizome with 16" stems. Fairly drought-tolerant but appreciates summer water. Minimum temperature: -30°F
A real black beauty, this iris produces velvety dark purple-black flowers that are up to 2” across. The falls are long & drape nicely. Blooms June to July on 24” stems & would make a great graphic bouquet when combined with our white Orlaya grandiflora. Oh, & I almost forgot - the flowers are fragrant too! Even better!
