'Fire Island' has brilliant yellow leaves that emerge on red petioles in spring. Red extends from the petiole base up into the leaves hinting at a current direction in hosta breeding: to develop a red-leaved hosta! The foliage darkens to chartreuse in summer. Lavender flowers are held on bright red scapes. A vigorous grower.
Hosta 'Fire Island' is a beautiful medium sized plant with slightly corrugated foliage that starts out bright chartreuse in spring slowly turning green in the summer.?
