Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The glossy jet-black leaves of this vigorous but compact 12-24" mounder definitely! catch the eye, especially when acting as a background for airy sprays of cream-white flower in early summer. PSh-Sh/M PP20613
Zn 4. Nearly black glossy leaves. Creamy flowers
Smooth ultra dark foliage, burnished with a gemlike luster, is this Heuchera's stylish signature. Celebrating more vigor and more black than those of its dark rival, Heuchera 'Obsidian'. Elegant lobed leaves fashion a compact mound, which offsets urn-shaped creamy white flowers. 'Blackout' is a mysterious midnight-hued springboard for golden grasses, yellow-leafed perennials, Japanese Painted ferns and silvery Pulmonarias. (pp#25,280) Hardy to zone 4.
'Blackout' has very dark, almost black, glossy leaves with rounded lobes which are said to be darker than the industry standard in dark-leaved heucheras, 'Obsidian'. Cream flowers top the clump in late spring or summer.
Blackout is an exciting new Heuchera introduction. The lush foliage is maple-like and nearly black. 18" tall airy flower spikes are sterile and bloom profusely and repeatedly from summer to fall. Very hardy and disease resistant, Heuchera make ideal companions to other shade lovers like hostas and ferns.
