Like fragile pink butterflies are the dainty flowers of this rare pink form of an American wildflower discovered by Mt Cuba; Scott Arb finally broke its propagation secret recently so now you can enjoy it too! S-PSh/M
Lovely woodlander usually 2’ tall but occasionally 3’; relaxed clumps that are equally as wide. Pretty, trifoliate, woodsy foliage is topped by floating masses of PINK starry flowers on wiry stems May>July. An underused perennial that’s easy in average to well drained soils in part shade; enjoys moisture and humus rich soils. Takes a bit to get established, but long lived and sweet, between layers of other plantings. Nice red fall color.
This is the much sought after clear pink form of this great North American native. It becomes an airy effervescence of pink stars in the garden in early summer. Clumping, 2-3' tall and wide, and ideally prefers bright shade.Minimum temperature: -30°F
This graceful perennial is strangely absent from most gardens. The leaves are arranged in threes along wiry stems, topped by loose panicles of clear pink flowers (normally white in the species) emerging from tubular wine-red sepals. Think of it as a butterfly gaura for the shade garden. Gillenia is native to eastern North America and was traditionally used for medicinal purposes. Part sun to light shade in average to moist well-drained soil. Good fall colour.
Did we mean to infer that this is a PINK Gillenia???? Why yes, we did. And it is. Pink, definitely pink. An exciting offering of a dandy variant on a choice eastern native. Pink Bowman's Root will get 24"-30" tall with multiple stems sporting an airy array of pink flowers. Great fall color as well.
