Understated flowers for a gaillardia, large amber yellow ray petals, and a warm orangey center. The species is native to a wide swath of the Western half of the US and most of Canada, and copes well with harsh conditions and climates. This is pure G. aristata, and so is much longer lived than most of the common varieties which are hybrids between G. aristata (a perennial) and the annual species G. pulchella. Zone 4
