Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The willowy foliage on this attractive tree is purple when young then turning a handsome soft gray-green. An especially ornamental variety this dense, symmetrical, medium (30 to 50') tree features dark elegantly craggy bark; sometimes called the willow peppermint for the minty scent its leaves give off when crushed; heat and cold resistant and tolerant of poor soils. Willow leafed gum. Zone 7.
"Willow-Leafed Peppermint" is a popular euc with many virtues, including fine juvenile leaves that can be used in arrangements and smell of peppermint, and an attractive habit as a mature tree. In a nice cool climate it will assume a much more upright habit, as shown by a tree at the Ballard Locks in Seattle. Seed from Santa Cruz, CA. Hardy to 10 - 15 °F. DS.
