Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Thistle relative with HUGE rosettes of Pandanus-like leaves, spectacular! This evergreen perennial produces huge rosettes of green, strap-like leaves bearing soft spines: they really do look like the leaves of a Pandanus species! Flower stalks to 6' or more appear in summer bear numerous thistle-like heads: though impressive, these can be cut off if only the effect of the foliage is desired. Although in appearance it is an excellent companion plant for xeric selections, it is easily grown on any soil, and will respond to some moisture on a dry site. Hardy to about 5 °F. S. America
Narrow and spiny evergreen leaves with many upright branching flower stems to 5' tall.
