Loose umbels of magenta reflex-petaled flowers on stiff stems above small clump-forming rosettes of long oval leaves. One of the tallest species. Best in rich soil and part shade. From western North America.
The reflexed, mid-pink petals fade to white toward the base which itself is dark maroon. The pointed styles are almost black. Likes moist in spring and dryer in summer.
Distinguished by its unusual large leaves; one of the tallest species growing on wet soils, 18" scapes bear lavender violet flowers with white corolla tubes and dark reddish purple stamens in many flowered umbels.
Showy western native with reddish-purple reflexed petals that bloom May through July. Summer dormant.
