From wild-collected seed in the high Andes of south central Chile, this shrubby slipper flower grows to about 3', flowering through summer and into fall with its bright yellow pouches subtended by pleasing felty green leaves. Best in dampish soil. Evergreen to 20 °F, USDA zone 9 or so; root hardy and resprouting from 10 °F, USDA zone 8. [RCH 455]
From the Chilean Andes, this fanciful shrubby plant with slipper-like lemon-yellow flowers blooms throughout the summer against evergray-green leaves. Plentiful puffy pockets! Prefers rich, well-draining soil.
