Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The Tasmanian Apple Berry, or Purple Apple Berry, is a small vine native to the cool, moist forests of Southeast Australia and Tasmania. It’s a delicate appearing plant that’s easy to grow with white, pendulous flowers followed by bizarre purple fruit. There are white and red colored varieties which we may offer in the future. Cold hardy to USDA zone 7b and above, or to 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Think of this as a vining pittosporum to 10 ft tall. Evergreen vine from the mountains of Tasmania with small foliage and sweetly scented, creamy chartreuse bell flowers followed by metallic blue berries (edible!). Cool feet and sun at its head suits it best along with average water in well-drained soil. Choice. Frost hardy to 5 to 10F, mid to upper USDA zone 7.
The fragrant, tubular, yellow flowers of this evergreen vine become attractive and edible purple-blue berries after pollination. Plant in a warm sheltered location. From the Australian states of New South Wales, Tasmania, and Victoria.
Creamy yellow-green pendent bells in April are followed by very long-lasting marble-sized bright blue-purple fruit in late summer and into fall. Always a wonder when in fruit. Evergreen leaves on 10' extremely finely textured vine.
