Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The Rodals of Sauvie Island, Portland discovered this plant. The 2” thorns are wicked but worth dealing with. The fruit start out creamy white and continue to change to translucent pink. The 2”-3” strands of fruit are glorious on a 10'-12' shrub. Very limited.
Curtains of sunny, yellow flowers in spring create phenomenal drapes of salmon-colored berries in late summer turning deep red in late fall. It takes your breath away when in its full glory. Any thought of spines evaporates. This large deciduous shrub becomes 12' tall x 8' wide and fountain-shaped; don your leather and prune out some of the lower branches to create more definition and make it more hospitable. Minimum temperature: -10°F
Pendulous clusters of translucent, coral-red berries complement the rich hues autumn also gives to the leaves of this lg, erect, spiny shrub; a great plant for hedge, border, or barrier. Sun/Med
