Zn 7. Blue-green leaves. Shaggy red bark.
Exhibits a tighter habit than 'Paradise' with darker tones in the new growth. White flowers appear later in winter. Arguably the most ornamental manzanita we grow. Hardy to 10F.
Sinuos trunks of deep mahogany-purple to 4' tall and twice as wide. Evergreen foliage with bright orange-red new growth maturing to a nice blue-green, Light pinkish white small bells in early spring are followed by small orangish non-mushy berries. This will take very hot sun. very little water, no fertilizer, little attention.
Spreading, evergreen manzanita, this one eventually reaching 6 ft tall x 10 ft wide. Dark reddish brown trunks and stems with blue green foliage, the new leaves emerging red. Clusters of fragrant, pink flowers appear in wnter just when we need them. Full sun in well-drained soil and little water once established. Frost hardy in USDA zone 8.
This selection of Pajaro Manzanita recalls the better known 'Sunset' in many respects, including leaf shape and arrangement, bright pink new growth, and plant habit; but instead of having green foliage, the plant is grey, very grey. So grey, in fact, that when squirrels hide in the branches, all you can see is their beady little eyes staring out at you with a threatening look. Not really. Easily grown in any well-drained, sunny garden, it has the same smooth red bark and contorted shape of most manzanitas. Hardy to about 10 °F. Evergreen shrub to 5' x 6'. California.
Light pink-blushed flower clusters bloom in early spring among blue-gray pointed leaves on undulating purple-mahogany branches. Medium to slow grower for us, reaching 4 ft x 6 ft in 7 years. Give her some air, folks. Don't crowd..
