White petals nested on a collarette of frilly green bracts make for a very unique early spring display on 6" tall plants. Summer dormant.Minimum temperature: -30° F
Wood Anemone. This selection has funny heads of flowers where the petals have become dense clusters of dissected white leafy bracts or did the bracts become dense bunches of filigreed snowflake petals? Either way, quite a piece of floral artwork that garners ample attention. Great for shade.
By far my favorite nemorosa, this thing is bizarre, the true flowers are surrounded by a ring of green and white bracts, it is difficult to describe and no two are exactly the same, it is one of those plants that you cannot walk past with a camera without taking dozens of shots. It is also wonderful as a winter bloomer in a conservatory, (blooming a bit after the Ranunculus ficaria clones) although it is perfectly hardy in the garden as well. ZONE 4
Semi-double white flowers with a ruff of larger green leaves below. Spreading, easy to grow "filler" for the woodland garden or in front of a shady border. Prefers moist, humusy soil but tolerates drier soil in summer as they are then dormant.
