This regal selection of Allium boasts beautiful, glaucous blue leaves embossed with veins, providing an almost pleated appearance...the foliage alone makes this plant garden worthy. Top the leaves with globes of ivory florets in May and you have a real dazzler! Full sun, decent soil drainage – Deer & rodent resistant. Clumps get bigger each year with no special attention from you. Plants are 8-10” tall & go dormant after bloom (dried flowers look good for a long time). USDA Zone 4   3"x 3"x 5" pot
Ornamental onions offer intriguing spherical or egg-shaped inflorescences comprised of hundreds of tiny flowers. 'Ivory Queen' is a cultivar of Allium karataviense with two to three broad, bluish-green leaves topped with large spheres of pure white florets. Foliage stays lush during the flowering. Available in spring as potted plants and in fall as dry bulbs.
Fragrant ivory white flowers up to 6" diameter, good drainage, deer resistant, Zones 4-8
One of the best Allium species you can get for ornamental value. We love the broad pleated leaves which are endearing enough but toss in the 3" globe packed with ivory flowers touched with green centers and we have a winner. Great in containers or rock garden. Easy.
Alone, these pleated blue-green leaves would be enough, but then 3" diameter white spheres on short stems nestle between. Give them a dry resting period in summer.
