This Haida Guay (Queen Charlotte Islands) native grows to a fraction of the size of A. aleuticum remaining under 6 inches in height with attractive tufted fronds. As one might expect, it enjoys dappled sun, consistently moist soil but not saturated. Wonderful trough specimen. USDA zone 4
Growing to only about 8 inches tall and slowly spreading, this little gem is a lucky find when available. It's semi-evergreen and has shiny, black, wiry stalks holding pinnately divided fronds in a flat, fan-shaped arrangement. I've seen it turn a beautiful amber to pale gold in fall. Elegant yet tough - a winning combination. Minimum temperature: -30°F
Fairy garden wanna be fern...6-8” tall and eventually twice as wide; fresh green tightly packed leaves on glistening black stems that are arranged like perfect fans. Semi-evergreen in warmer climates, deciduous where cold. Needs consistently moist, humusy soil and shade. USDA Z6
