Fireglow Japanese Maple is one of the best red Japanese maples around. Similar to a Bloodgood, but smaller in growth habit and the foliage is redder with less purple coloring. When the sun shines through the leaves, it gives a fiery accent, hence the name, Fireglow. Fall color is deep crimson.

Fireglow' Japanese Maple is a red leaf form similar to 'Bloodgood' but with a smaller mature size and more compact growth habit. Additionally, the summer color is usually redder and less purple than Bloodgood. The leaves are slightly translucent and so standing behind the plant when the sun shines through the leaves gives off a bright fiery orange-red glow. Popularly used as a bonsai variety because of its dense growth.

Fireglow is a wonderful red leaf maple that reaches about 10′ in 10 years. The spring leaves are bright red and they hold their color of red through the summer. Other red leaf cultivars often become more burgundy in the summer. Fireglow always seems to produce a lot of samaras [seed pods] which adds to the overall look of this lovely maple.
