Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg' is a fast-growing broadleaf deciduous tree with purple and red foliage. In spring chartreuse and red flowers emerge followed by red fruit. Attracts bees, beneficial insects and birds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something humidity tolerant.

'Trompenburg' began as a chance seedling selected by J.R.P. van Hoey-Smith at Trompenburg Arboretum in Netherlands, and introduced by Firma C. Esveld. This popular landscaping tree has rich, deep purple-red leaves that hold well all summer, even in full sun. The lobes radiate laterally and evenly, giving it the appearance of fingers extended from a hand. This upright cultivar may grow to 15 feet.
