Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Excellent for landscaping, this somewhat larger and more vigorous weeping tree (to 15-20') has deeply 7-9 lobed leaves, bright purple-red in spring changing first to deep maroon, on to green and back to crimson fall color! PSh-Sh/M
Leaves emerge bright purple-red maturing to black-red or dark maroon by summer. With afternoon shade these colors hold well into late summer. In fall the leaves turn crimson.
Acer palmatum 'Sumi nagashi -' Japanese Maple Reaching up and out, this Japanese Maple has branches that form a vigorous, finely shaped tree. Deeply divided and deeply colored in a long lasting red, the large leaves add a beautiful contrast of color and texture to other specimens in your garden.
The deeply divided, large leaves of this vigorous Japanese maple emerge bright purple-red and hold their color well when protected from afternoon sun. Leaves gradually darken to black-red by summer, then go bronzy green-red and bright red for fall. The sturdy, vigorous tree makes a dramatic addition to the landscape. Also known as 'Suminagashi.'
Of all the upright reds (Bloodgood types), this is my personal favorite. It grows to a gracefully spreading 12' with good branch structure, and excellent color in cummer and fall. Zone 5. All sizes are available even if they aren't mentioned.
MATSUMURAE, red. Strong growing and vigorous, 'Sumi nagashi' is an excellent landscape tree. It will form a small tree with superb strong branching structure. The large, deep maroon leaves are deeply cut and hold their color all summer.
