Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Sunny-yellow leaves on arching branches make this 3-5' x 3-5' shrub a pretty picture all season, but especially when covered with white flowers in early spring. S/M
Spirea 'Ogon' has narrow golden yellow leaves on an open 4' shrub. Our plant is in shade all day but would take almost full sun.
Spiraea thunbergii 'Ogon' is a stunning and very hardy deciduous shrub with willowy, lance-shaped leaves emerging chartreuse green in early to mid spring with sprays of fragrant, pure white flowers along the branches then turning to bright golden yellow as the season progresses if grown in sun or lime green if grown in part shade. The foliage turns shades of yellow and orange in fall. 'Ogon' grows to 3-5 feet high and wide with a pleasing arching shape or it can be pruned to shape as a ball or as a golden hedge.
Luminous, linear, chartreuse-golden leaves in springtime predict the delicate sprays of white summer flowers. Soft and feathery this shrub is a much-needed contrast for many gardens.Rounded shrub 6' x 6' or less with pruning.Minimum temperature: -30°F
Among the first shrubs to bloom, 'Ogon's pretty white five-petaled flowers are arranged in abundant clusters along its wiry bare branches. Later, small and slender Willow-like foliage attires the numerous dark twigs. Illuminated in golden shades, this fine textured Japanese selection conveys a bright, wispy visage in the midst of blue flowering Geranium 'Nimbus', Berberis 'Golden Ring' and Euphorbias.
Need a plant to liven up the greens in your garden? Beautiful, soft textured, yellow willow-like foliage on a softly mounding upright to arching shrub. Orange to purple fall color. Single white baby's breath flowers are borne in spring. Tough and durable with good drought tolerance once well established.
White flowers spring, gold leaves turn light green. Orange fall color. Prune to keep smaller. Zones 4-9
A deciduous shrub with arching willowy branches and thin, Bright Yellow spring leaves. In early summer the leaves green up and by late summer they're russet to yellow-orange color! A veritable rainbow of leaf color and they remain on late in the Fall. Medium growth rate. The Spiraea to bloom in spring before it leafs out. Branches are more 'wispy and delicate' than the species.

At first sight this shrub looks like a golden leaved willow. In fact, it is a hard to locate Spirea introduced from Japan by Barry Yinger. In early Spring it produces clusters of white flowers that soon are overcome by the slender golden foliage. This durable shrub continues to glow all season, grows well in sun or part shade and is tolerant of dry soil conditions. 4-5 ' tall and 6-8' wide, but can be cut back if a smaller size is desired.
The only spiraea to grow....first to bloom, first to leaf out with yellow foliage, bronze fall color. Super!

Introduced from Japan by our friend Barry Yinger of Pennsylvania, this golden leaved deciduous shrub is handsome long after its green-leaved kin have faded from glory, holding its leaves until late autumn. White flowers cover this plant in early spring before the leaves emerge. A medium shrub, to 3-5' tall and wide. Easy in full sun to part shade with consistent summer water. Frost hardy to -30 °F, USDA zone 4.
