A suckering, Western Asia and Siberia shrub grown for it's showy 3/4" pink to rose flowers which literally smother the plant in early spring and are followed by almond looking nuts. Shrub with dark green deciduous foliage. Pink sharp flowers. Oval, velvety, gray-yellow fruits reminding almonds. It forms dense thickets that are great for banks, erosion and are excellent for wildlife food and cover.
