Penstemon serrulatus is a broadleaf evergreen perennial with green foliage. In spring and summer blue flowers emerge. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Drought tolerant once established. Does well in well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.

Bumblebees flock to this plant! One of the easiest native penstemons to grow because it can take heavier soils and more shade. Covered in purple-pink flowers it is one of the top showy natives in our area. Semi-evergreen leaves tinted burgundy during the winter add interest even when it isn't blooming.
Unusual and hard to find, this stunning, native perennial penstemon has gorgeous purple-blue flowers in mid- summer standing on 30" stems above rosettes of green, with lance-shaped foliage. Found in open with good drainage in sun to part shade and tolerates some summer water though drought tolerant once established. Lovely herbaceous groundcover, frost hardy to -10F, USDA zone 6.
Growing on stream banks in the cascades it is a sub shrub that can reach 2' in height with dark bluish purple flowers ZONE 5.
