Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This highly textural evergreen shrub is well armed with wicked sharp pointed leaves subtly outlined in yellow, slowly growing in a columnar shape to 8’ high and half as wide. Prefers sun to part shade, decent soil, regular water. Fragrant fall flowers perfume a large area, smelled more than seen. Deer/critter resistant.
O. 'Sasaba' is an outstanding plant. The sharply pointed evergreen leaves look somewhat like a small bamboo. We have seen 5'-6' upright shrubs of O. 'Sasaba' at Brookside Gardens, MD and were very impressed. The plants we are offering are 3 year olds and seem to take off and grow faster after this age.
Glossy, yellow-veined, sharply pointed 3-lobed leaves and an abundance of small fragrant white flowers make this fast-growing (6-10"/year) 10' shrub a lovely hedge/screen (but watch out for the spines). PSh/M
