Nursery contributed plant descriptions

(NODDING CHOCOLATE FLOWER)  This South African perennial subshrub creates a mound of foliage about 8-10” tall and twice as wide with narrow, pointed foliage hugging semi-upright stems.  Nodding clusters of chocolate scented flowers orange and white flowers in summer are adored by hummers (maybe they like chocolate too!). Enjoys a sunny position with very good drainage with regular moisture (but not wet), at home in rock garden;  deer and critter resistant. USDA Z6         3” pot
Too cool rock garden/wall/container plant. A proliferation of 10" nodding flower stalks that turn from white to orangy/red that make the humming birds go mad from spring to frost. Oh, the flowers smell like chocolate, too. Yum. Full to half sun/good drainage. A CDN collection from Lesotho, South Africa. Hardy to 0F or below.
There is nothing gloomy about Glumicalyx because it has chocolate scented flowers and we all know chocolate is a natural antidepressant. Tough South Afican which makes a low clump of evergreen leaves which sprout 10" stems of white bells which open to orange-red.
Of the Snapdragon family, the extremely rare South African native makes an unusual & handsome perennial for a well watered site. Stems to 15” tall are topped with large, nodding heads of bright red flowers which open at the end of long, narrow tubes. Bloom season is late Spring thru late Summer if deadheaded. Stems creep & root if there is ample moisture & no discipline. Good, well drained soil – no clay.
