Duranta erecta ‘Gold Edge’ is an upright, tropical shrub with ovate, serrated leaves significantly edged in bright gold. The variegated foliage is the real star here! Displays light bluish-purple flowers on tiny, cascading stems which are followed by graceful clusters of yellow-orange berries. Both provide excellent contrast with the foliage. Prefers an evenly moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Excellent as a container focal point or in a garden border. This plant is not suited for growing indoors. The large tropical foliage is splashed and edged in bright golden yellow. A great accent plant of mixed containers especially when mixed with red. We saw this variety at Mercer Arboretum where it was grown as an 8'H x 6'W hedge.
