Buxus sempervirens 'Graham Blandy' plant details

Naturally growing tall and skinny, Graham Blandy is a great boxwood to stand at attention at prominent corners in the garden, bringing a good sense of structure. Great as a repeating element dotted around in strategic positions to tie together what we hope is a wild collection of diverse plants that make your heart and wildlife sing. Also super handy as a small-space hedge that isn't going to need any heroic efforts to keep it in bounds. You can wield hedge shears on it if you choose, but it's pretty tidy and adorable left in its natural state.

Buxus sempervirens 'Graham Blandy' is a moderate-growing, slow-growing broadleaf evergreen shrub with green foliage. Flowers are not showy, but nurture a healthy ecosystem as wildlife habitat. Features glossy texture. Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - dappled shade and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in average, clay, gritty, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant, humidity tolerant, verticillium wilt resistant and wind tolerant.

Columnar boxwood. Our largest plants are 8'x 1' (with once yearly selective pruning). This evergreen makes a handsome upright column.
This fabulous cultivar is one of the aristocrats of hedging and topiary! This Blandy Experimental Farm introduction features bright-green foliage and a narrow upright habit 5-10' tall and only 2' wide. It is very tolerant of shearing and requires only minimal upkeep to maintain its form making it an especially useful boxwood. S-PSh/M
Meet Graham B….a purely columnar boxwood! Moderately slow growth to 10' tall by a mere 18"-24" wide, a perfect 'exclamation point' in the garden…a vertical accent in a tight corner or in a conifer arrangement…so many uses! Sun to part shade, moist, well drained soils. Lustrous, deep green leaves, in concert, these would make a perfect hedge for a narrow spot!
This evergreen shrub has a dense, columnar habit, and lush, ovate foliage. This variety is slow-growing and hardy, making it very easy to maintain. Often used as a hedge or topiary plant. Deer and rabbit resistant, as well as drought tolerant.
A narrow, upright boxwood, this plant is excellent as a hedge or vertical accent where space is minimal. It is evergreen and densely branched. Growth Rate slow
One of the most commented on shrubs in our garden. A strongly upright, columnar shaped boxwood that maintains it's beautiful shape without pruning. Excellent accent plant. Difficult to find in the trade. Introduced by Blandy Experimental Farm in Virginia.

A good selection with soft green spring foliage and dark green mature foliage. This one has a narrow, upright habit reaching 10' high with only a 1' spread.

Here is an upright and narrow form of Buxus that offers an evergreen exclamation point in the garden. Useful to mark the beginning of a path, either side of a landscape "gateway," as an evergreen matrix for a perennial garden, as a "hinge" where two paths meet, or used as a focal point - the so often needed structure! And deer-resistant.
