This native of Mexico is an unbeatable choice for trellised pots on the patio, producing scads of pouty lipped purple trumpets (1-1.5" flowers) on wiry stems all season long. Light green foliage that looks delicate but is robust and carefree adds to the overall wow facto of this great plant. Hummers will seek this one out!
From Mexico comes beautiful & graceful Asarina ‘Joan Lorraine’ an exceptional vine for part shade with rich velvety purple flaring blooms that are nearly 2” wide. I have two plants in my backyard, one growing against the wall above the water spigot twirling thru Impatiens sodenii ‘Madonna’ & the other planted at the base of Brugmansia ‘Charles Grimaldi’, creating a purple groundcover below those dreamy peach trumpets. Fast growing , great on a trellis, in a pot, or climbing. To 8-10’ tall. Cut back in Fall. Sooo pretty, it self-sows, too!
