Silver foliage form. THE BEST. Simply amazing, this jack in the pulpit has deep purple on the outside of the flower and snow white inside. We don't always have A. sikokianum available, so when you get a chance, better jump.
This woodland perennial “Jack-in-the-Pulpit” has to be seen to be believed. The deep purple glossy “hood” of the spathe surrounds the pure glistening white of the club-like spadix – a striking color combination. The plant rises to around one or two feet in height in early spring from an underground, tuber-like structure. In addition to the “out of this world” flowers, the foliage is often marked with silver streaking. Best in woodland conditions and soil (similar culture to trilliums, hostas, etc.).
This is one of the most stunning species. Soon after the plant emerges in spring, a huge maroon pitcher shaped flower unfolds and reveals a bright white, club-like spadix. To add drama, the hood is striped. To top it off, this is one of the easiest to grow.
Blooms: spring-summer, blue, early emerging, blue-green foliage Zone 5-9. 24", Japan, part shade-shade, moist, well drained
Very pretty and fairly hardy (Jelitto), this Asian Jack-in-the-Pulpit offers elegant 5-parted leaves (green sometimes marked with silver) and tall "pulpit" flowers of deep-purple veined with white in spring.PSh-SH/M
This the Liberace of the Arisaema not to be out staged by any of the competition. Unreal marshmallow looking spadix and leaves marked with a wash of white.
