Omureyama Japanese Maple has green leaves, but it gets its uniqueness from its semi-weeping limbs that are similar to those of a weeping cherry. Because of its unique identity, it is prized among maple collectors and makes a great container tree. Omureyama Japanese Maple has a stunning show of yellow, oranges, and red leaves in the fall.
Whereas the weeping dissectum forms are usually low mounds, the long pendulous branches of this more upright 10-15' tree form a curtain around the trunk; leaves are pendulous too, with gold and red fall color. S/M
Small tree which typically grows in an upright, rounded, cascading form that will be about as tall as wide. Young plants are mostly upright. They develop a cascading form with maturity as the slender branches become pendulous near the tips. Palmate leaves (to 3" long) are deeply cut into 7 lobes each having toothed margins and pointed tips. Foliage emerges light green with orange tinted margins in spring, matures to a rich green in summer and finally turns bright red, orange and gold in fall.
Perfect example of the weeping palmatum form, not to be confused with the cascading dissectum group. Young plants are upright, then later exhibit long, pendulous willowy branches. Mature trees have round form with lovely cascading side branches.
'Omure yama' is another unusual, dramatic maple that has a place in any garden. The green leaves of this vigorous maple sometimes have an orange cast to them in spring. Fall colors are spectacular crimson and gold. The unique growing habit of 'Omure yama' resembles a weeping willow. Its long branches shoot upward, then bend out and down. More and more shoots continue upward giving this maple a final height of 16 feet.
Acer palmatum 'Omurayama' - The weeping willow of Japanese maples, this tree may reach 15-25' in 20 years, and the crown may be nearly as wide. The summer color is a bright green, and fall color is an excellent gold and crimson mix.
Green, 7-9 lobed leaves on pendulous branches; golden orange to red fall color. A small spreading cultivar.
Matsumurae Group - green. Omurayama is a weeping form of the Japanese maple, but should not be confused with the dissectum group which are smaller and more shrub like. Omurayama becomes a small tree 8-10' tall in ten years with willowy pendant branches that hang like a curtain on the perimeter of the plant. Many people compare the effect to that of a miniature weeping willow. The leaves are deeply dissected with an orange cast to the green leaves in the spring. In fall the green leaves turn to brilliant red and gold colors.

Omuryama is an upright but spreading and somewhat pendulous head. It gets fairly tall for a palmatum (maybe 20') and almost as wide; the fall color is stupendous, a sort of glowing orange red.
MATSUMURAE, green. One of the best green forms of palmatum, this is a small tree with a pendulous habit. The lobes are long and deeply cut. A mature tree develops willowy branches that grow upward, then bend out and down. Outstanding orange fall color.
