While certainly not a new variety, 'Caramel' stands as one of the best amber colored varieties for a number of reasons. With H. villosa as one of its parents, 'Caramel' is tolerant to heat, humidity, and somewhat heavier soil. It has a vigorous growth rate and is tolerant of full sun if it has adequate moisture. Like all amber-toned coral bells, 'Caramel' needs direct sun for best color. I try to give it 4-6 hours of morning sun. Combine it with silver, blue, and chartreuse foliage for a great combo.
