    Chamaerops humilis var. cerifera [blue] is an evergreen palm / cycad or shrub with blue foliage. In spring chartreuse and yellow flowers emerge followed by green fruit. Features glaucous texture. Grows well with sun and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Adapts to various soil conditions. Does well in well-drained soil.     Chalky blue-leaved form of the Mediterranean fan palm from above the tree line in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Multitrunked to 6 ft, becoming a palm mound with age. Best with great heat (near concrete, afternoon sun). Said to be the hardiest form of the species. Evergreen to 15F and able to resprout in USDA zone 8.

    This variety of the Mediterranean fan palm hails from northwest Africa in the Atlas Mountains and adjacent areas. It is considered by some to be hardier than the species. The Atlas Mountain palm has glaucous blue foliage top and bottom, a shade that deepens with age and in full sun positions. It forms a short multi-trunked specimen with time. Plant in a warm, protected microclimate in your yard in well-drained soil. Some bubble wrap will help it if the temperatures really drop.

    Chamaerops Humilis var. cerifera is an evergreen, low maintenance palm from Southern Europe hardy to about 5 °F or more when mature. It is very similar in appearance to the normal Chamaerops humilis except that the narrow, fan palm leaves are a different color. Chamaerops var. cerifera are a lovely, pale blue color which becomes more vivid as they mature. They start off with green leaves, progressing to blue.
