Its bright shrimp-pink foliage in spring makes this dense round 3-8' shrub as showy as a flowering shrub; bright-green all summer, it then flames again, this time into scarlet for the fall. S-PSh/M
Delicate leaves emerge coral pink. Spring color absolutely glows in the landscape, lasting until early summer. Pink new growth shows beautifully on top of older green leaves. Fall color is coral-red.
This grafted dwarf maple grows like a shrub. Spring color is fantastic pink – turning to light green in the summer and then finishing with a scarlet red color in the fall. Corallinum can be potted into an ornamental container or planted in the garden. Because of the initial small size it is recommended that it be grown in a pot for a few years before moving to the garden. If kept in a container the maple can be moved to an unheated garage or shed for winter protection. Estimated height in 10 years is 4’ tall and 4’ wide. This maple is hardy to -10 degrees, USDA zone 6. Photo courtesy of Talon Buchholz. Companion plants include – ferns, spring bulbs, heuchera, and heather or heath.

One of the best dwarf Japanese Maples. Corallinum emerges in spring with wonderful tones of coral and pink slowly turning to medium green in summer with new summer growth emerging coral-red. Really outstanding!
Acer palmatum 'Corallinum' - This is a very outstanding Japanese Maple. Spring leaves emerge with a pink to salmon/red color. The leaves mature later in the spring with a reddish hue before turning mostly green in the summer. The young bark has a slight red or coral tone.
Spring brings leaves a bright shrimp-pink. In many ways rivals flowering shrubbery in the garden. Foliage matures into green with minute flecks of light coloration. Late summer new growth is scarlet.
Is this an incredible color, or what? There are several cultivars which exhibit this same spring foliage, but Corallinum is the first among equals. This color lasts through early summer and then the small leaves turn a nice, often blotchy crinkled green, still interesting. The tree itself is more of a bush with fine twiggy growth. zone 5
AMOENUM, green. Perhaps one of the most talked about maples with its unique, spectacular peach-pink spring leaves. This glorious foliage slowly matures in summer into an enjoyable apple green. In the fall it turns deep red. A great plant for the smaller garden, it makes a slow growing, twiggy shrub. Very Special!
