As some of you may have read in Patricia’s last\u00a0post<\/a>\u00a0I recently stumbled upon a treasure trove of\u00a0Echium candicans<\/a> at Garden Fever. I was just walking along admiring the flowers and other offerings when bam! I’m suddenly confronted with beautiful variegation, what’s a gardener to do?
\n\"Echium<\/a><\/p>\n

Since these beauties are only hardy to USDA Zone 9 they’re typically annuals in this part of the world.
\n\"Star<\/a><\/p>\n

But what an addition they make to the summer garden! Even if they never bloom (and it’s pretty much a given that they won’t) they’re still worth the price…especially when it’s only $3.99.
\n\"Echium<\/a><\/p>\n

But the thing is I wasn’t going to plant them this year. I’d already made up\u00a0my mind I wasn’t and had purchased something else<\/a> to go in the spot usually reserved for a flashy, fast growing, tender plant. So what was I doing picking them up and putting them in my cart???<\/p>\n

And then there were these…
