Corokia cotoneaster &#8216;Devil&#8217;s Smoke,&#8217; Wire Netting Bush<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/42473\/corokia-cotoneaster-devils-smoke\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Corokia cotoneaster &#8216;Devil&#8217;s Smoke&#8217;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/nurseries\/cistus-nursery\/\">Cistus Nursery<\/a> introduction which they say \u201cshould be among the hardiest of the species, but who really cares cuz it looks dead anyways\u201d. Ha! I love the \u201carchitectural\u201d twisty silver branches and black leaves. Pretty fun. Less goth and more classy and sophisticated. Every early Spring when I see this in bloom I tell myself I must get one. Acer palmatum &#8216;Purple Ghost&#8217;, Japanese Maple<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/26\/acer-palmatum-purple-ghost\/\">Acer palmatum &#8216;Purple Ghost&#8217;<\/a> is one of the Ghost series developed by Talon Buchholz at Buchholz Nursery in Gaston, Oregon. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/nurseries\/dancing-oaks-nursery\/\">Dancing Oaks Nursery<\/a> it gets deeper purple foliage veined in black in Summer when grown in sun. Somehow this variety is even more tropical looking than your average <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/genus\/fatsia\/\">fatsia<\/a> but it&#8217;s just as tolerant of dry shade. A really, really good plant. Helleborus x hybridus\u00a0&#8216;Black Diamond,&#8217; Lenten Rose<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/40351\/helleborus-x-hybridus-black-diamond-winter-jewels-series\/\">Helleborus x hybridus\u00a0&#8216;Black Diamond&#8217;<\/a> is Oregon bred by Marietta O&#8217;Byrne and has got to be one of the darkest, most luscious flowers on earth. Imagine it underplanted with a bed of <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/genus\/sedum\/?3=16&amp;filtered=True\">chartreuse sedum<\/a> or other groundcover, or can we handle that level of impact? Sansevieria trifasciata &#8216;Ghost,&#8217; Snake Plant<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/57736\/sansevieria-trifasciata-ghost\/\">Sansevieria trifasciata &#8216;Ghost&#8217;<\/a> would be a good one for me since I tend to murder <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/tags\/houseplant\/\">houseplants<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/genus\/sansevieria\/\">snake plants<\/a> are about as tough as they come. Aren\u2019t the colors so cool on this variety? Sambucus nigra &#8216;Black Lace,&#8217; Elderberry<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/45385\/sambucus-nigra-black-lace\/\">Sambucus nigra &#8216;Black Lace&#8217;<\/a> has long been a pet plant of mine. When situated in the right spot in the garden it easily plays the role of star. What a great plant and I would love to congratulate whoever named it.
