The problem is, every time I go out there, I see weeds. And I&#8217;m not done with my inside projects. So many test colors on so many wall.\u00a0Ai yi yi.<\/p>\n<p><em>The picture atop this post is from several seasons ago in my <a title=\"Photo of Alameda Hellstrip in Danger Garden post.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thedangergarden.com\/2014\/07\/hellstrip-gardening-by-evelyn-j-hadden.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alameda Hellstrip<\/a>. I loved that combination, especially the Phormium, which is sadly no longer with us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I did note while outside, that in addition to many weeds, plants with blades are earning their keep. This Flax is two seasons in, and going strong. Flamingo Park Garden came with lots planted already. No luck with the answer sticking. It was in a pot, and we moved it here from the Alameda garden. Ranulfo&#8217;s crew helped unload compost that year, and while he was here, I told him I thought I should toss the plant. He&#8217;d walked it halfway to the compost bin when I yelled, &#8220;No, drop it.&#8221; I planted it just about where it fell&#8211;and I&#8217;m glad I did. It looks a little rough now, and I think I read something about that Yucca acne, but I don&#8217;t recall what causes it. This poor <a title=\"Iris confusa\" href=\"https:\/\/plantlust.com\/plants\/12674\/iris-confusa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iris confusa<\/a> is blooming despite my neglect. To be remedied post haste.<\/p>\n<p>And now shifting gears, as you know I am wont to do, a happy hour salad.\u00a0We used to eat dinner dang early, but we&#8217;ve shifted gears and started having a healthy appetizer after Bill gets home and takes Pumpkin for a walk. I finally figured out it&#8217;s a great time to get\u00a0more\u00a0greens into our diet. So often, when we made dinner early, I was somewhat loathe to include the salad. I don&#8217;t know why, but there you have it. But it seems a better weekend treat than the potato chips\u00a0we&#8217;d allowed ourselves. It&#8217;s all part of our &#8220;eat real food&#8221; campaign. If I keep this up, I might even grow real food one of these days.
